I'm so curious about the history of this little brown jug. It came to me from an estate sale and I was immediately intrigued by the fact that it still had its original wax seal and the tiniest little cork sealing the spout.
Also interesting is that fact that the "cork" is not actually cork, it's carved wood. I believe it's original to the piece because it's got remnants of wax around it from where it was sealed into the top of the jug.
I'm guessing this was used for whisky, or perhaps some other liquid, but I haven't had much luck finding out much more about it. It's not the usual Stoneware Whisky Jug. There don't seem to be a lot of these pieces out there, so if anyone has any information I would love to know a bit more. I can't even seem to put a date on it, it has me quite stumped!
In the meantime I've popped this little pot into the shop so it can continue its journey. I'm sure whomever snaps it up will be as intrigued by it as I am!
Happy sluething!
